Immediate Home Hardening
Focus on the ignition zone directly adjacent to your home. Install ember-resistant 1/8-inch mesh screening on attic and crawlspace vents to prevent wind-driven ember ignition. Remove all combustible materials.
Manage Vegetation
Reduce and clear vegetation to create a lean, clean, and green zone. Remove dead plants, prune trees to eliminate ladder fuels, and space shrubs appropriately. Maintain irrigated, fire-resistant landscaping.
Reduce Fuel Load
Extend your defensible space into this outer zone by reducing the density of native chaparral and removing highly flammable brush. Create horizontal and vertical spacing between plants to slow fire spread.
Resilience is Built on Quiet Saturday Mornings
We believe a truly fire-safe community isn't forged in crisis, but through consistent, proactive effort. It's in the shared workdays, the neighborhood conversations, and the collective commitment to preparedness before red flag conditions arrive.

Build an Evacuation Kit
Inspect all attic, foundation, and crawlspace vents. Ensure they are screened with 1/8-inch mesh to block embers effectively. Replace any larger mesh or damaged screens.
Remove all combustible items from within 5 feet of your home. In Zone 1 (5-30 feet), thin vegetation, prune lower tree branches, and maintain irrigated landscaping to reduce fuel.
Beyond 30 feet, create horizontal and vertical spacing between native chaparral. Remove dead brush and highly flammable plants to slow potential fire progression towards your property.
Prepare an emergency supply kit with essential documents, medications, water, and non-perishable food. Practice your evacuation route and designate a family meeting point.
